Project Description:

Room Name: Simultaneous Simulation[s] - A room of representation[s]

Area of Room:  809.0611 sq in (72dpi)

Location Tag: Lexington, Kentucky

Project Text: Context matters - A virtual prompt defined by a virtual ordering system (nine square,) that borrows geometry from adjacent conditions (exquisite corpse.) In this room, the abstract exercise of the nine square is tested against an alternate abstract exercise ( #disruptivecontinuity ) that I teach and explore in my own professional work. Disruptive Continuity is filled with opportunistic contradictions but strives to understand the relationship between form and that which informs form, between individual typology and hybridized relationships. In this space, it is overlaid with Disruptive Obfuscation, a combination of Disruptive Continuity with a patterning logic that camouflages seams and allows glitches to reveal new edges. The relationship between form and pattern produces a series of overlapping, simultaneous conditions that are physical and perceptual, real and virtual, tangible and abstract.

The space of “Simultaneous Simulation[s]” uses the virtual exhibition format to develop hybrid conditions of simultaneity between the object and its representation. To reimagine the space of the rendering (a model and drawing simultaneously) through a similar gestalt, allows one to misuse tools and professional conventions to produce a spatial result somewhere between form and its own representation, between space and graphic, between form and pattern. It is a space where the representational techniques inform the spatial result.
