This project began as a cross-disciplinary research project at the University of Kentucky to design a single solar-powered bus stop. That narrow vision became our point of departure. Through an intensive, funded, multi-year research process we expanded the scope to articulate a new vision for a sustainable urban network as an outward expression of research, sustainability, design education, and our collective future.
Pedagogically, the design studio became a living laboratory to simulate professional practice within an academic context while also demonstrating architectural thinking to the broader campus and city community. For more about the ideas, research and team, follow the links below:
